The United Kingdom Moves Forward on Hydrogen Energy
by Karen Hall
Vice President, Technical Operations of the National Hydrogen
Association
The United Kingdom is serious about hydrogen energy. Two workshops
are being planned which are aimed at introducing hydrogen
and fuel cells to UK decision-makers.
The first workshop, entitled "Fuel Cells: Their Promises
and Challenges," will be held on June 23 in Redcar, UK,
and provide a basic introduction to fuel cells and their fuels,
as well as the safety aspects of these technologies compared
to conventional technologies. You may
download a flyer for the event here. (117Kb PDF)
The second workshop will build on this, and focus more
on safety, codes and standards. It is intended that these
workshops provide opportunities for the authorities having
jurisdiction, planning officials, and related industries to
better evaluate applications to incorporate these technologies,
thereby serving the needs of industry as well as decision-makers.
The venue and date for the second workshop has not yet been
announced. Both workshops are being organized by the Centre
for Process Innovation (www.uk-cpi.com).
Anyone interested in displaying small hydrogen or fuel cell
technologies at a table-top exhibit at one or both of these
workshops, or simply receiving additional information, is
requested to contact Karen Hall at khall@ttcorp.com.
