U.S. TAG Team to Meet in Troy, MI
by Robert Wichert, U.S. Fuel Cell Council
and Karen Hall, Vice President, Technical Operations of the
National Hydrogen Association
U.S. Experts involved in the development of codes and standards
for hydrogen and fuel cell systems will meet in Troy, Michigan
at the SAE Automotive Headquarters on July 18th and 19th,
2005. This will be the fourth U.S. TAG TEAM meeting, an opportunity
for National Standards Development Organizations and the US
Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) for ISO and IEC Technical
Committees to discuss issues of common interest. The meetings
are supported jointly by the US Fuel Cell Council and the
National Hydrogen Association.
These U.S. TAG TEAM Meetings provide an opportunity to discuss
issues impacting US interests in the ISO and IEC standards-development
working groups, as well as UN activities on regulations for
hydrogen energy systems. By discussing issues our TAGs face
individually, we can discover where these issues impact other
areas and try to build US consensus in a broader
context.
Over the two day meeting, participants will discuss the status
of standards activities in the US and in international forums.
The meeting is being planned to co-locate with the Quarterly
in-person meeting of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Codes &
Standards Coordinating Committee.
Coordination and informational exchange will be invited on
high priority activities including:
- Global Technical Regulations
- CSA Hydrogen Tank Standards
- Hydrogen Purity Technical Specifications and Related Testing
- Hydrogen Component Qualification Efforts
- IEC TC 105 - Fuel Cells
- ISO TC 11 - Pressure Vessels
- ISO TC 197 - Hydrogen
- ISO TC 22 SC 21 - Electric Road Vehicles
- ISO TC 220 - Cryogenic Vessels
- ISO TC 58 - Gas Cylinders
- NFPA 52 - Compressed Gas Vehicle Fueling
- NHTSA Regulations for Fuel Cell Vehicles
- Model Building Codes (ICC and NFPA)
- ASME Hydrogen Piping and Pressure Vessel Efforts
