NHA C&S Steering Committee Selections
by Karen Hall
Vice President, Technical Operations of the National Hydrogen Association

The NHA is pleased to announce our new Hydrogen Safety, Codes and Standards Steering Committee. Members of this committee will help set NHA priorities in safety, codes and standards, and assist with managing the NHA's budget in this area. In order to do this effectively, members will be invited to participate in the monthly conference calls and quarterly in-person meetings of the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Codes and Standards Coordinating Committee. This comprises DOE, NREL, USFCC, NHA, and organizations developing codes and standards for hydrogen energy systems, including fuel cells.

The members of the NHA's new Hydrogen Safety, Codes and Standards Steering Committee are as follows:

Susan Townsend - GE Global Research (Chairman)
Carol Bailey - Sentech
Bob Boyd - BOC
Bill Collins - UTC FC
Bill Hoagland - W Hoagland and Associates/Hydrogen 2000
Larry Moulthrop - Proton Energy Systems
Krishna Sapru - Energy Conversion Devices
Chris Sloan - GM
Mike Swain - University of Miami

In addition, the Steering Committee is recruiting a member to represent the energy companies with H2 refueling station expertise.

We were overwhelmed with the positive response from members and non-members alike. It was a difficult decision, but in order to keep the size of the Steering Committee manageable, we were not able to include everyone who applied. Several applicants that were not selected have been asked to be advisors to the Steering Committee in their areas of expertise.

Thanks to everyone who indicated an interest. The Steering Committee will help manage the NHA's priorities and budget as we strive to facilitate the development of codes, standards, workshops and materials that ensure public confidence in the wide-scale commercialization of hydrogen energy systems.
