HGV2 Document Moves Forward
by Karen Hall
Vice President, Technical Operations of the National Hydrogen Association

BA draft HGV2 document, prepared by CSA America, Inc., is currently out for industry review and comment. The document will be called American National Standard/CSA Standard for Compressed Hydrogen Gas Vehicle (HGV) Fuel Containers.

The document represents the first draft of the hydrogen document and is based on Basic Requirements for compressed Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Fuel Containers, NGV2-2000 and NGV2a-2001. Coverage has been incorporated for vehicle fuel containers for compressed hydrogen.

At the same time, proposed revisions for NGV2-2000 and NGV2a-2001 are also being reviewed by industry. The main changes include clarification that a reference applies to the latest version of reference documents, a number of other clarifications, and some editorial corrections.

Comments on both documents are due February 6, 2004. If you wish to obtain a copy for commenting on the document please contact Julie Cairns at CSA America, Inc. at 216-524-4990, Ext. 8213 or email julie.cairns@csa-america.org.
