by Karen Hall
Vice President, Technical Operations of the National Hydrogen Association

Both ISO/TC-197 and IEC/TC-105 are tentatively planning working group and plenary meetings in Japan between June 21 – July 2, 2004, in conjunction with the 15th World Hydrogen Energy Conference (WHEC).

WHEC will be held June 27 – July 2, 2004 at the Pacifico Yokohama conference center in Yokohama, Japan, approximately 30 minutes by train from Tokyo. The conference website is www.whec15.jp.

ISO/TC-197 will hold its Plenary on Friday July 2, 2004 in Yokohama. The working group meetings have not yet been determined, but are likely to be held between June 21 – June 25.

IEC/TC-105 has issued an administrative circular indicating that the Japanese National Committee is inviting Technical Committee No. 105: Fuel Cell Technologies to have their 2004 Plenary & WG meetings in Tokyo from June 21 - July 2, 2004. At this time the Plenary meeting is tentatively being scheduled for June 24-25. Presently the technical committee is in the process of determining what dates the various working groups will be meeting on in conjunction with the Plenary meeting. Note that this is a pre-announcement and that IEC/TC-105 is waiting to receive the provisional program, general information, as well as the registration and accommodation forms concerning these meetings before a formal announcement can be made.

The NHA will post dates in our calendar of events once the details are available.
