International Connectors Standard on Fast
Track

Livio Gambone, convenor for the ISO TC 197 work group preparing
an international standard for connectors (WG5), has recently
reported that the SAE has released the SAE J2600 standard (fuel
connectors) to ISO for a Draft International Standard (DIS)
circulation under the fast-track procedure. In order to make
use of the fast-track procedure, the SAE J2600 document was
circulated without the editorial changes agreed to at the Joint
WG5 meeting in Grenoble, France. But, Mr. Gambone further reports
that these changes will be included in the document prior to
publication. In addition, the joint working group can continue
to meet to address the technical issues brought forward in Grenoble.
The DIS is currently circulating for approval to the whole membership
of ISO until 5 July 2004. The working group will endeavor to
schedule another joint working group meeting after July 5th.
