Getting to Newcastle Airport (NCL) UK:
First and foremost, please fly in to Newcastle Airport (NCL). This is Newcastle upon Tyne in Northumberland, not to be confused any other Newcastles in the UK, such as Newcastle under Lyme. Newcastle Airport is served through London, Amsterdam, Paris, and many other international cities.

I have put together a short list of recommended hotels. There are many websites offering additional hotel and B&B choices in the area. If you are feeling adventurous, you can visit Northumberland Travel and Transport, at www.northumberland.gov.uk/vg/travelli.html for hotels, transportation tips, places to see and things to do.

To get to the meeting site, please go to the Gateshead Metro. If you are staying at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, you can walk or take a taxi directly to the Greenesfield Business Centre. It is 0.5 miles from the Hilton. Otherwise, take the Metro from Newcastle Airport or Central Station to Gateshead Metro.

Gateshead Metro is located at the Gateshead Interchange. It is a 5 minute (downhill) walk to Greenesfield Business Centre. Come out of the Metro and take the escalator up to the bus interchange area. Follow the signs to bus stand A, along the corridor at the end of the building. Go outside through the double glass doors. Cross at the pedestrian crossing directly in front of these doors. Note, cross halfway, and then wait for another signal to cross the rest of the way. At the other side of the street, go left, and then turn right down the first street. You will see Greenesfield Business Centre on the opposite side of the road. It has large black iron gates at the carpark. Reception staff will help you find the conference room.

Britannia Hotel:
The Britannia Hotel is a modern hotel situated next to Newcastle International Airport, within walking distance of the terminal. The hotel operates 24-hour airport transfers to accommodate an inclusive overnight stay and parking whilst you are away.

This up to date hotel is well situated for visiting Newcastle City Centre, having a direct metro link from the airport itself straight into the city centre within 15 minutes. Other attractions include The Metro Shopping Centre, The Angel of the North, Gateshead Stadium, Northumberland Coastline including Bamburgh, Holy Island, The Farne Islands, Seahouses and other famous coastal destinations. Also, within the region are more historical areas such as Durham Cathedral, Hexham, Corbridge and Hadrian's Wall.

This is a good choice if you have a very long flight and want to get settled immediately upon your arrival. It is a very nice hotel, with many amenities.

Royal Station Hotel:
The Royal Station Hotel is situated at the railway station and adjacent to the metro which has trains serving most local destinations including the airport. Newcastle has been voted a top entertainment city with many bars close by, and ‘Destinations’ which is located at the hotel. Eldon Shopping Complex is also close to the hotel.

Combining elegant Victorian architecture with up to date facilities, this family run hotel takes pride in offering a friendly and courteous service. The hotel is ideally located at the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne and is adjacent to the Central Station.

Opened by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1858, it is today refurbished to a very high standard.

This is a good choice if you want to do some sightseeing while you are in the United Kingdom. The location provides great access to all forms of transport. It is also walking distance to many shops and pubs.

Hilton Newcastle Gateshead:
The outstanding riverside location - providing breathtaking views of the River Tyne, the Quayside and Newcastle - is Hilton's landmark in the North East. It boasts a stylish exterior matched by an incredible range of state-of-the-art facilities inside.

This is a good choice if you like an aquatic view, and prefer peace and quiet to central location. It is a half mile from the Hilton to the meeting, and a little less from the Hilton to the Gateshead Interchange, where you could catch a Metro or bus to Newcastle. You could also choose to walk over one of the famous bridges joining Gateshead to Newcastle.
