Hydrogen Fuel Purity Workshop
As you may be aware, there are a number of standards being
written to specify the purity of hydrogen, primarily for use
in a fuel cell vehicle. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory
will be holding a workshop on Monday April 26, 2004 in advance
of the NHAs 15th Annual Conference and H2 Expo USA to
bring together stakeholders to discuss the activities, objectives,
scopes, and timetables of the various efforts. Due to space
constraints, participation in the Fuel Purity meeting is by
invitation only.
The purpose of the workshop includes the following:
1. to gain a better understanding of who is doing what in
developing fuel purity guidelines and standards in terms of
objectives, definitions, scope, timetable, and participants
2. to develop a rough work breakdown structure of the fuel
purity issue for the total "fuel cycle" for which
purity requirements must be defined, including
1. levels or tiers required for fuel purity corresponding
to each segment of the fuel cycle
2. criteria to develop technically sound and economically
viable guidelines or standards
3. R&D needed to define the levels of purity appropriate
for each level or tier
4. timetable for the guidelines and standards
5. a rough budget for R&D and guideline/standard development.
6. cost of analysis to ensure purity level at each segment
of the fuel cycle
The NHA would like to thank those who have indicated an interest
in attending this meeting. We look forward to seeing you on
April 26.
