Update: IEC TC-105's Technical Report on Fuel Cell Terminology

On February 18, 2003 the International Electrotechnical Commission's Technical Committee 105 on fuel cell technologies (IEC TC-105) presented their 4th draft of the Technical Report on Fuel Cell Terminology for review.

The report (IEC TC105-1), presented by Working Group 1, "provides uniform terminology in the forms of diagrams, definitions and equations related to fuel cell technologies in all applications including but not limited to stationary power, transportation and portable power applications,"according to the report’s introduction. The report does not contain words and phases which can be found in standard dictionaries, engineering references or IEC’s Multilingual Dictionary on Electricity, Electronics and Telecommunications.

Chairman Kelvin Hecht reports:

To date, the document has been used by the other Working Groups to insure terminology consistency with the 105 series of documents. Also, the Japanese National Committee is suggesting the inclusion of numerous terms presumably to make this document into a general glossary for the entire fuel cell community.
Currently, the suggestion of the Japanese National Committee is under review. The next committee meeting is scheduled for June 18 in San Diego, the day before the 2003 IEC TC105 plenary meeting.
