TC 197 WG 5 Progress Report
by L.R. Gambone, Convener of ISO TC 197/WG 5

General

  • WG 5 meeting took place on Tuesday, June 11, 2002.

  • WG 5 meeting was attended by a good cross-section of 14 members and observers. P-members represented included Canada, USA, France and Japan.

WI 15866 – Filling Stations

  • Ms. Sylvie Gingras informed the group that this standard was cancelled due to the expiration of the time limit to produce a working draft. Consequently there is an open call for any P-member country to submit a new work item proposal (NWIP) on this subject. It was recommended that any NWIP be accompanied by a fairly complete working draft of the standard.

  • Mr. Joe Cohen of Air Products offered to contact the International Codes Council (ICC) to determine if they were interested in pursuing a NWIP (ICC is working on a draft station standard).

WI 17268 – Filling Connector

  • ISO TC 197 has formally asked the SAE for approval to adopt the SAE J2600 connector standard as the working draft for this WG. This approval was granted before the meeting, but a copyrighted version of the standard was not received in time for review.

  • The WG listened to an overview of the draft SAE standard from Mr. Joe Cohen of Air Products (table of contents reviewed and briefly discussed).

  • Once a copyrighted version of the SAE standard is received, it will be circulated to the WG members for review and comment along with the meeting minutes (forecasted to occur next week).

  • Concurrent to the draft circulation for comments, the SAE standard will be re-formatted to the ISO template.
  • A deadline of August 31, 2002 will be set for receipt of comments.

  • The comments will be reviewed at the next WG meeting which is scheduled for September 19/20, 2002 in Las Vegas to coincide with an APTA meeting the following week.

  • Assuming all the comments are resolved at the next meeting in Las Vegas, the draft will be circulated as a Draft International Standard (DIS).

Comments to the oral report:
None. Accordingly, a resolution to adopt the report was drafted.
