ISO TC 197 Update

Items of Interest this Month

  1. Two new work item proposals have been approved and they are the proposals circulated as ISO/TC 197 document N238 - Hydrogen generators using fuel processing technologies, and N239 - Transportable gas storage devices - Hydrogen absorbed in reversible metal hydrides. The ISO TC 197 Secretariat is currently gathering the complete contact details of the experts that were nominated by the participating members.

  2. ANSI has been requested, as a member of ISO's Technical Management Board (TMB), to vote on the election of certain chairpersons, among which is Mr. R. Dey (Canada) for ISO/TC 197. The term being requested is 2003-2008.

The following bio information has been excerpted from the TMB request.

Name: Mr. R. Dey (Canada)

Year of birth: 1943

Present post: President CCS Business Improvement Services Inc., a consulting firm he established in 1977 to assist companies in developing their products to meet CSA/UL and international standards, including the CE mark.

Other activities: Convener of ISO/TC 197/WG 8 Hydrogen generators using water electrolysis process.

ISO/TC 197 coordinator of the exchanges and negotiations with the UN/ECE organizations (WP 29 and GRPE) and TC 22 Road vehicles as per ISO/TC 197 N 232 document.
